The Püre Takeover
To put it simply, the weekend of Püre in Coachella Valley was nothing short of spectacular. One of California’s first outdoor events since they were given permission to resume starting April 15th; Püre in Coachella Valley was in full swing by 11 AM and everyone involved was ready to give these people their first festival experience in well over a year . The music started around 11:30 and as you would expect at an event of this magnitude, it was all uphill from there. Several of the Püre members performed throughout the day and when they weren’t performing they made sure they were contributing in some other way. Whether it was making sure everyone in attendance is having a good time or micro managing some of the stuff going on behind the scenes that was ensuring that the event ran smoothly, there was never a member who wasn’t helping out. In addition to the live music being played on the main stage and also by the pool in the VIP area, there were also multiple tents set up, each of which was occupied by a different business. The businesses in attendance ranged from a jewelry stand selling custom Püre jewelry to a barber who seemed to have his hands full throughout the entirety of his stay. They had security at the event but to the best of my knowledge there was not any incidents which required the security to get involved; it was clear that everyone there was just happy to be at an event of this nature again and they wanted nothing more than to just enjoy the music. How well were the attendees of this event accommodated you ask? Mexican food, açaí bowls, fruit bowls, juice, shaved ice; not much more a festival goer can ask for. It was almost surreal to be at this super professional and organized event and remember that the people behind it are all around 20 years old.
As the day edged closer to sunset, I began to realize that everything I had witnessed up until this point was really the calm before the storm. Just as the sun began to set, they made an announcement that there is a special guest that is going to be performing up next and you would not wanna miss it. Goldfish comes on stage and let’s face it, when you see that iconic saxophone and electronic keyboard; you know shit is about to go down. And down it went indeed, the two South African Natives whaled for over an hour and a half and not once was there anything less than a full crowd. In a way, Goldfish’s performance was the send off into the nocturnal tail end of the festival and everybody there was in agreeance that the night was in fact still in its adolescence. Perhaps equally as impressive as their ability to get a surprise performance from Goldfish was the fact that the 4 succeeding DJ’s after the surprise were all core members of Püre Musica. From 7:30 till 12:15 the stage was occupied by Teak Makai, LikeWise, Rodri Ghost, and MX Sound; you can find footage of their performances on the Püre Musica Instagram and also on their individual accounts which I will link below. Bottom line, these guys are deep. Knowing how hard those guys are working all the time, I would definitely keep an eye out for any new content they release using the footage they got via the media team they had working at the event and also for any updates on what’s next for Püre team.
I recently did an interview with Nate Tello from Püre Musica and we talked about how their relationship with Goldfish came to fruition. You can find that interview on the next page where I will also include links to some of their cool work. Once again I must reiterate , and I cannot stress this enough, these guys are deep. Perhaps even more importantly however, they’re just getting started.
